Ad campaigns in the U.S. are clearly getting more diverse, and Nordstrom is among the brands making that happen. Those with disabilities are among those not properly recognized in marketing, but the Seattle-headquartered shopping giant has been working with disabled models since 1997. It continues the tradition in its July catalog, which features models Jillian Mercado, who suffers from muscular dystrophy, Alex Minsky, an armed forces vet who lost his right leg in an explosion while serving in Afghanistan, Shaholly Ayers, who was born without a right arm and the 7-year-old Emilia Taguchi, who has Down Syndrome.
