Go Behind The Scenes Of Chicago's World's Fair With Field Museum App
Mobile App Takes You Back To 1893, Links To Outdoor Campaign
Editor's Pick
Visitors to the Chicago World's Fair in 1893 were amazed by all that new technology had to offer - sights included the very first Ferris Wheel. Now the Field Museum of Chicago is bringing it to life for modern visitors via an app (developed by DDB Chicago and Potion) for its "Wonders of the 1893 World's Fair" exhibit (created with artifacts plucked from the Field's own storage rooms). The idea is to allow people to see now via through their mobile device what people saw back then.
Via a QR code, the app connects outdoor advertising around Chicago to the event by allowing users to experience teasers of the exhibition. Once there, it turns into a tool that allows museum goers to build personalized tours and access extra content, ranging from informational text to video content and immersive 360 degree panoramas. The app is available for Apple and Android devices.
