Blow glass on your iPhone.

Editor's Pick

Glassblowing, when seen in person, is a beautiful experience -- watching artists bring their creations to life using just their breaths. For the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts' Dale Chihuly exhibit, The Martin Agency tries to bring that experience to your phone with "The Chihuly App," inspired by the glassblower's work.

The iOS app, created in partnership with unit9, lets you design your own virtual creations using just your iPhone's microphone. You can pick three distinct Chihuly forms: Firo, Macchia or Seaforms. Then, blow into the phone to change the shape of the virtual glass and create a piece of art, which can then be shared on social media and onto VMFA's Facebook page.

The effort is the agency's attempt to diversify the audience for Chihuly's glass art, and bring it into modernity that might appeal to a yougner demographic. The exhibit will run until February 2013.
