Stockholm's Arlanda Airport is letting travelers experience weather from all around the world in an interactive "climate portal."
The installation, conceived by agency Akestam Holst, is connected to weather services online with measuring stations translating data to the three physical rooms: Hot, Cold and Big. Travelers step inside to experience different conditions via the use of wind generators, audio-visual cues and temperature simulators.
The climate portal booth will in place till the end of August. While its stated purpose is apparently to give travelers a taste of their destination, we reckon many people will be using it as a fun activity to while away their time at the airport.
It's a cool idea, although the intro video here mainly features talking heads (we'd like to see real travelers getting sweaty or shivering in the booth).
Other international airports, including Amsterdam's Schipol and Tokyo's Narita, are trying to make the experience more fun for travelers while marketers like Samsung are increasingly using airport downtime as a chance to promote their products.
