Lifesaveris a new app that uses phones and tablets to simulate the actions of CPR on a person suffering cardiac arrest. Launched by The Resuscitation Council, a medical charity that produces the official UK guidelines for CPR, and developed by production company UNIT9, it places the user into a live action movie they play like a game. The film was written and directed by interactive director Martin Percy, a five-time BAFTA/Emmy nominee.
Users can move their smartphone or tablet up and down to simulate real CPR compressions; if they do it wrong, the patient dies. When someone's choking, they can move the device down to hit them on the back. The app, available for both Apple and Android devices, also features expert advice and real-life accounts of cardiac arrests.
