After trailing its Oscars ad with a film that used a Teddy Roosevelt speech about "daring greatly," Cadillac revealed last night that the "daring" theme is all about being creative, entrepreneurial and passionate -- the kind of buyers the brand hopes to attract. The spot, by Publicis New York and Publicis London, hailed "daring" people like Richard Linklater, the director of "Boyhood" (which lost out to "Birdman" for Best Picture), as well as Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak, Asian fashion designer Jason Wu, personal-genomics pioneer Anne Wojcicki and Njeri Rionge, who helped bring Africa the internet. Set to the strains of Edith Piaf singing "Je Ne Regrette Rien," it was directed by Independent's Doug Liman.
