Bad Download Speed Makes for a Terrifying Ghost Story in Halloween Spot From FIOS
Gaten Matarazzo From 'Stranger Things' Appears in Another Ad for the Verizon Cable Brand
Oct 27, 2017
What's scarier for modern kids than ghosts, ghouls and zombies? According to this spot from FIOS (and we suspect they could be right), it's slow internet speeds.
The brand's Halloween ad once again stars actor Gaten Matarazzo from "Stranger Things," who appeared in a previous spot as a tech-savvy kid. He and his friends are out in the backyard doing "streaming and 'smores" and using multiple devices with their FIOS internet. Their neighbor appears over the fence to tell them a spooky campfire story about how, once upon a time, "if you had more than a couple of devices online, speeds would slow to a crawl ... like a zombie." Even worse, "the devices would feed ... on every last bit of bandwidth, until there was none left."
"He's just trying to scare us," mutters Matarazzo, but the kids look suitably terrified.
The ad is by McCann New York and was directed by Henry-Alex Rubin at Smuggler.
