See David Beckham Under Attack by Mosquitoes in This Anti-Malaria PSA
Film by R/GA and RSA Highlights Need for Political Action
Editor's Pick
David Beckham comes under attack by a huge swarm of mosquitoes in a PSA highightling the threat of malaria, from U.K. charity Malaria No More.
The film, created by R/GA and produced by RSA, showing Beckham inside a glass box increasingly on which the mosquitoes land. Even though he is protected behind a layer of glass, the growing sound of the insects is a symbol of the looming threat of malaria -- and, as well as scratching at his skin, at one point, the global superstar looks pretty scared.
Kai Lu Hsiung, managing director of RSA, says that the film "challenging to make," adding: "We've never cast 10 000 mosquitoes in a film but they didn't disappoint. David was brilliant and much credit is owed to Absolute Post for their dedication to authentically multiplying mozzies in what I consider a post-production feat."
Beckham is a founding member of the Malaria No More UK Leadership Council. The film launches ahead of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in London in April, and calls for leaders to agree to bold political action to end malaria for good.
