Newly owned by Google, Motorola is launching a new campaign to promote its Moto X smartphone as the first smartphone to be made in the USA. A print campaign, by Droga5, appropriately launches ahead of July 4th, and will be run as a full-page spread in the July 3 editions of The New York Times, USA Today, Wall Street Journal and Washington Post. Moto X will be assembled at the company's plant in Texas; so, in a dig at rivals such as Samsung and Apple, the ads tout it as the "first smartphone designed, engineered and assembled in the USA.". Moto X is also being marketed as "the first smartphone that you can design yourself," as it allows consumers to customize aspects of the phone to suit their own needs.
