This Weird and Wondrous Samsung Spot Is Straight Out of Your Dreams

Ad for Galaxy S7 Edge Promotes VR Via Your Phone

Samsung promotes the Galaxy S7 Edge's virtual reality capabilities in this breathtaking spot, which brings to life the weirdness and wonderfulness of dreams.

Created by Wieden & Kennedy Portland and directed by Smuggler's Adam Berg, it captures the dreams of a girl dozing on a bus. The ad is replete with stunning, surreal visuals, showing the girl rising to the sky from her seat, a bus floating off the highway. A voiceover then goes on to describe classic sleeptime reveries -- being able to fly, being young when you're old -- but the film adds some quirky twists. For example, the girl has a dream about a dinosaur in a Jurassic Park-type landscape, but he freakily speaks in the voice of her best friend. There's also the familiar nightmare in which the girl's teeth fall out at school, but guess what? The boy she has a crush on still likes her.

The spot ends by coming back to the bus, where the girl puts her phone into a VR headset (to escape the slobby guy next to her eating a sandwich). The ad then poses the question: if you could experience anything in a dream by just putting a phone on your face, why wouldn't you get that phone?

The film continues the series Samsung debuted during the Oscars, to support the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge.
