Puppets sing "Lessons from my neighborhood" in "Sesame Street"-style videos for a new campaign from Kansas City nonprofit for inner city kids Youth Ambassadors--but the advice is totally shocking.
The three videos tackle heartrending, horrific tips--like how to "duck, dodge and roll" (seen here) when you hear gunshots on the street, what to do when your mom overdoses or how to fill up on air and water when there's no food in the house.
The juxaposition of the jaunty puppets and the subject matter is particularly hard-hitting, and what makes even more of an impact is that the "lessons" are taken directly from quotes by real children. The PSAs end with the message "No child should have to learn a lesson like this."
The campaign was created by VML and the videos directed by Station Film's Seyi Peter-Thomas.
