Coca-Cola and Walmart collaborated on this charming seasonal spot that shows a boy doing whatever it takes to earn some money in the run-up to the holidays: chopping wood, selling Coca-Cola outside his house, shoveling snow and delivering newspapers. As we watch him struggle heroically to save his pennies, we wonder what he's saving up to buy (at Walmart, of course). The ending has a touching twist that reminds us somewhat of U.K. department store John Lewis's Christmas classic "The Long Wait."
Shot by Aaron Ruell at Biscuit Filmworks for Atlanta-based Fitzco/McCann, the ad will run on TV and Coca-Cola and Walmart's social channels through the holidays. This isn't the first time the two marketers have collaborated; they teamed up for a holiday spot three years ago. In a statement, a spokesperson said, "Both brands are encouraging people to look beyond the presents and focus on the true spirit of the holidays."
