A trade campaign for a Frankfurt sound design company with the offbeat name of FunDeMental makes freaky use of stock photos in a way that might prick up the ears of, say, Michael Jackson. Do the strange alterations on the male ears (see the PDF) represent, maybe, waveforms? While the woman's ear is intended to suggest something akin to the f-holes of a string instrument? No, forget it, nothing like that. "The ears stand for pure sound design," says Y&R Germany CCO Christian Daul. "It's tricky to make sound design visible, but the perception of FunDeMental's special sounds and their technical visualization in music software inspired us to give the ears this very special look."
