HomeAway Invites You to Spend a Night in the Eiffel Tower
What's More, You Can Also Help Design the Apartment
May 19, 2016
Is nowhere sacred to travel websites? Home rental site HomeAway just seriously upped the stakes on rival Airbnb (which last Halloween offered a night's stay in the Paris catacombs), by giving people the chance to sleep over in the Eiffel Tower.
To celebrate being a UEFA Euro 2016 national sponsor in France and official fans' accommodation provider, the brand is running an online competition (open until May 31 in the U.S. and until June 5 in Europe) inviting people to apply answering the question: "What would you and your family do if the Eiffel Tower was all yours for a night?"
Four winners along with up to five additional guests each will be able to sleep in a specially created apartment inside the tower, designed by French interior designer Benoit Leleu. There's also a crowdsourcing element whereby fans will be able to decide on the space's final design elements by posting with the hashtag #EiffelTowerAllYours on HomeAway's social media channels, including Facebook and Instagram. In addition to the sleepovers, soccer parties and other events will be hosted in the space.
The campaign, created by Saatchi & Saatchi's Paris and London offices, is part of HomeAway's wider campaign that launched in January, themed around the tagline "It's Your Vacation, Why Share It?"
