Elizabeth Banks Fronts Initiative to Help More Women Get Into Comedy
Actor Has Joined Forces With YouTube and WhoHaHa
Editor's Pick
Elizabeth Banks is one of the entertainment industry's best-loved comedic actors (as well as a creative entrepreneur in her own right). Now, her digital comedy platform WhoHaHa is joining forces with YouTube Space on an initiative to encourage more women to take part in comedy.
The program to foster female comedic talent will take place in YouTube Spaces in Los Angeles, New York, Toronto, Rio, Paris, Berlin, London, Tokyo, and Mumbai and will include production sets, provided crew, mentorship and more than 50 workshops and events. Links on how to apply are listed on the YouTube version of the launch video, seen here, in which Banks spells out the figures: including that only 17% of all streaming, TV and film titles last year were directed by women.
