Your Phone Contract Could Be a Two-Year Halloween Nightmare
Latest Horror-Fest from Giffgaff Is Inspired by Clasics From the Genre
Editor's Pick
U.K. mobile brand Giffgaff has made something of a speciality of spoofing the horror genre in its ads -- previous spots have featured zombies and a blood and guts-fest. Now the brand is launching another Halloween-themed film, around the idea that being stuck with a two-year phone contract is like being trapped in a nightmare.
Created and directed by Giffgaff's in-house brand director Tom Rainsford, the film starts with a woman opening a creepy music box and setting the dial to "two years." She's plunged into a surreal nightmare that's inspired by various horror films and even Netflix's "Stranger Things" (there's zombies, a vampire, a creepy bride in a hotel corridor, a car without a driver, and her head served up on a plate at a feast.)
The ad will be shown online and in cinemas. Giffgaff is also opening a pop-up Halloween Salon in London this week where people can get their faces painted for parties, and is running activity on Facebook and Snapchat.
