Toys 'R' Us Tugs at Your Heartsrings in a Holiday Ad That's About More Than Gifts

The emotive holiday ads continue, and Toys 'R' Us is the latest brand to tug at our heartstrings in a spot that's not so much about filling your shopping cart with toys, but about getting what you really want for Christmas.

The spot, by BBDO Atlanta and directed by MJZ's Fredrik, tells the story of a father helping his little boy through the holiday season, from building a gingerbread house together to turning up at his school play rehearsal, perusing gifts (at Toys 'R' Us) and visiting Santa. On Christmas Day it's just the two of them unwrapping the gifts; but just as you might be wondering about all of this, there's a tear-jerking denouement that's effective even if you guessed it already.
