Twofifteen McCann Launches Gritty Gladiator Tale to Promote Exclusive Title

Fans of films like 300 or series like Spartacus will surely get a thrill out of this new campaign out of Twofifteen McCann, promoting "Ryse: Son of Rome" one of the first exclusive titles on the Xbox One, which hits the shelves on November 22.

The new title tells the story of Roman Soldier Marius, on a mission against the massive forces of the Roman Empire as he sets out to avenge the killings of his family members. The campaign features multiple components, including this lush, violent spot and cinematic trailer "The Fall" as well as a live action series of shorts on Machinima that sets out to explain his legend from different points of view, "Rashomon"-style.

Smuggler director Brian Beletic shot the campaign in Bulgaria over a two-week period. So far, three of the four chapters in the series have debuted, including Funeral, which reveals the seeds of Marius' mission, Spirit of Vengeance, in which two soldiers come upon a dagger tied to an old legend and For the Love of Death, in which a veteran gladiator recounts his past battles as he prepares for the ultimate one. Still to come is Palantine Hill, featuring a confrontation between old warrior and new, one that gives a glimpse into Rome's future.

Original content accompanying the launch of big game titles is becoming a more common component of marketing in the category. Twofifteen previously created longform content for titles like Alan Wake and Halo. Microsoft and 343 Industries was also behind another Machinima live action series starring big name talent to promote Halo 4.
