The latest ad from German train network Deutsche Bahn has already gone viral, with viewers warming to its unusual storyline -- the love story between a gay soccer player and his boyfriend.

The ad, by BBDO Berlin, promotes 25 years of Deutsche Bahn's Intercity Express trains, and tells the story of a devoted soccer fan who takes the train everywhere to follow his favorite player. He's such a fan, it seems, that he has a photo of himself and the player in his apartment and he's emotionally involved in every match to an incredible extent. You might notice a couple of moments where he gets some unfriendly treatment from other fans, but that doesn't make sense until the end -- when he takes the train to meet the player at the station, and they walk off hand in hand. The tagline is "Connecting more than A and B."

The film, directed by Soup Films' Matt Smukler, went live on June 1, ahead of the Euro 2016 Championships, and has already clocked up more than 2.2 million YouTube views and over 4.1 million on Facebook.
