How Many Balloons Does It Take to Send a Creative Into Space?

A Lot, and FCB Paris Plans to Do It

FCB Paris plans to send a creative named Baptiste up, up and away into space -- provided it gets enough Likes on its Facebook page.

The agency, which apparently doesn't have the resources of Red Bull, crunched some numbers and determined that it will take 36,895 inflated "regular" balloons to send the 114-lb man into the ether (they chose him because he's the lightest willing staffer, apparently).

It will only attempt to do so, however, if it earns that many Likes on its Facebook page. Since March 10, the agency has been blowing up a balloon for each Like it receives and will continue to do so for the next couple weeks.

The agency isn't going totally lo-fi on the project, however, and has enlisted the help of the CNES (the National Space Center) for the stunt. The plan is to elevate Baptiste all the way to the stratosphere, where the balloons will expode, after which he'll descend via parachute. Several cameras will be trained on Baptise throughout.

If the agency fails to get 36,000+ Likes, it has a "surprise: plan B.
