Chickens get a bad rap. Aside from the usual pejoratives, their role in marketing is usually relegated to being breaded and fried. If they do show up before being plucked, they’re depicted as dumb or silly or easily controlled, like the classic “Subservient Chicken.”

But times are changing. Vital Farms’ “Bullsh*t Free Eggs” spots feature farmers and their chickens out in pastures. And now Foster Farms is letting its free-range chickens show off musical skills, with two new spots from Deutsch L.A.

In “Boy Band,” chickens strut across a field, backed by crooning filled with ‘90s nostalgia. Interspersed with the requisite whoops and sultry moans, teen heartthrobs serenade a flock that’s free to stretch its wings. “So much to see under the sun / And it’s a wonderful day, so girl, let’s have some fun.”

“Girl Group” flips the scenario, using similar footage backed by a fowl-power anthem with lyrics like, “We’re going outside, baby / And we feel amazing.”

The spots are running in 15- and 30-second cuts on streaming platforms including Hulu and Roku, as well as on digital video and social media placements.
