Fox Sports Apologizes for Ruining Marriages Everywhere
More College Footbal Means More Marital Angst
Editor's Pick
As wives, girlfriends, spouses, friends and lovers take the black crepe out of the closet and prepare for another season as football widows, a campaign from cable channel Fox Sports 1 apologizes for being part of the problem.
"Sorry For All the Football," created by Pereira & O'Dell, debuted today with a pair of full-page ads in The New York Times and The New York Post and this one-minute, forty-second video telling the story of how the channel's broadcasts of even more football games this season has compromised a woman's marriage. Thirty-second versions of the video will air on TV throughout the college football season, and a social element of the campaign, #sorryforallthefootball, will be deployed as well.
"Thank you, Fox Sports 1, for ruining a perfectly decent husband," the miffed-looking wife says as she flips the bird to the camera. "Thanks."
