Xbox wents nuts with this infomercial for its subscription service
Game Pass promo hits all the right memes in a silly, shouty send-up
Aug 01, 2018
Xbox Game Pass, the subscription service for the gaming console, has launched two new social channels, and the announcement is a chaotic, meme-filled celebration of internet pop culture and gamer humor.
The video begins as a send-up of stock-filled infomercials. Tired of your dreary, boring life? Here's the solution! But the film quickly morphs into a hard-charging, guttural exultation, like a commercial for a monster truck rally, only for games like "Fallout 4" (Fight a bear!) and "Rise of the Tomb Raider" (Avoid dying!).
A heavy metal crescendo is interrupted by the quiet sounds of farm equipment, and sharp-eyed viewers can spot a plug for "Devil May Cry."
The spot was created by Xbox's agency of record, Ayzenberg Group, and began running on social on Wednesday, with plans to run on YouTube soon.
