U.K. online retailer Very is going all out to match bricks and mortar retailers in the Christmas ad stakes this year, with an animated tale that has merchandise to match.
The spot, by St Luke's, feature a saucer-eyed little girl named Anna who loves giving gifts more than receiving, and crosses snowy wastes to get a gift to Santa, with help from a friendly wolf. Swedish production collective Againstallodds worked on the animation, spending over 12 months perfecting elements such as the wolf's fur, falling snow and water. The result is a charming tale that will appeal to fans of Disney's "Frozen," of which the style is reminiscent.
The campaign launched with a 90-second spot breaking during "The X-Factor" last weekend and other versions of the ad, including "bloopers," are running online.
For first time ever, Shop Direct-owned Very has added merchandise to its Christmas campaign, making featured items in the TV commercial available to shoppers. These include the toy wolf Ulfie, which is available to buy alongside pajamas, slippers and Anna's duffel coat--a new range inspired by the ad.
