The Nativity seems to be something of a theme in this year's Christmas spots -- what with Mulberry's ad recasting a handbag in the role of the baby Jesus, and now this spot for Stella Artois in which it explains the story of its birth in a somewhat mystical fashion. The story takes places in Stella's birthplace Leuven, Belgium, during the holidays and portrays the beer's master brewer as he contemplates a name for a beer he has created as a holiday gift. He keeps seeing stars -- in the snow, on a girl's sweater -- and decideds to name the beer Stella.

The ad was created by Mother and directed by MJZ's Fredrik Bond. It breaks on November 9 across the U.S. and the creative will appear on large format billboard in key regions across the U.S., including the Anheuser-Busch Times Square billboard property from December 9 -14.

Stella is also offering people the chance to get a customized, engraved Holiday Chalice at its online gift shop when they buy a 12 pack of Stella Artois, tying in with the campaign.
