This 'Global Positioning Stocking' lets your kids track Santa

Australian retailer Myer comes up with an answer to an age-old question

One question that parents always find difficult to answer at Christmas is how Santa finds you if you're not at home. If you're visiting relatives, or in another country, kids will always have searching questions about how their holiday gifts will arrive (let alone if you live in a house without a chimney).

Australian retailer Myer is basing its Christmas campaign around that idea this year with the "Global Positioning Stocking"—a Bluetooth-enabled stocking. It features, among other things, links to an interactive map for kids to use to follow Santa’s journey on Christmas Eve; a platform for children to communicate directly with Santa; an illuminated Christmas countdown via LED lights on the stocking that change nightly in the lead-up to Christmas and, all-importantly, a tool to help create a Christmas wish list that connects to Myer’s e-Commerce platform.

The Myer Global Positioning Stocking is available in Myer stores and online for $34.95 Australian dollars with two designs by Australian illustrator Beci Orpin to choose from. There's also cute film to promote it, seen here, in which a little girl spends Christmas camping with her family. It's rolling out across TV, digital and social, print and OOH. The campaign is by agency Clemenger BBDO.
