Music fans can now take an interactive tour of the iconic Abbey Road Studios without even setting foot in London, courtesy of Google Streetview. Created out of Google Creative Lab and Stinkdigital, Inside Abbey Road allows you to explore the various studios, where the Beatles, Pink Floyd and, more recently, the likes of Lady Gaga have recorded hits. The site is a treasure trove of content for music lovers, with time-lapse videos, timelines, photography and more. Giles Martin, son of Beatles producer Sir George Martin, voices the guided tour, which even lets visitors have a virtual play with recording equipment.
Google worked with RSA Films director Rob Blishen on this video promoting the site. To make it look like a journey in Streetview, it features a continuous shot in Abbey Road, where the crew had to block off six blocks of London traffic and enthusiastic tourists for a maximum of two minutes at a time.
