Years ago, Kodak marketed itself as capturing the "Kodak moments" of family life -- and now it seems Google is trying to do the same for Google Home.

The U.K. launch ad for Google Home emphasizes how the device can help make family moments special, promoting the connections it enables rather than purely just another device.

It opens with a dad who's so glued to his tablet that he misses a particularly cute moment with his daughters having a pretend tea-party for their toy panda. In an attempt to "stay in the moment," he decides to use Google Home to add something to the occasion, commanding the noise a panda makes plus an appropriate soundtrack. Other vignettes include a mom using it to help with homework and a couple preparing to "Netflix and chill" by asking it to play "Stranger Things" on TV.

The ad, by 72andSunny Amsterdam, is directed by Somesuch's Bob Harlow with a lighthearted touch, using people from real families and a voiceover from comedy actor Julian Barratt.

The campaign will also include a series of shorter format films that highlight different product functionalities and how they can help families to enjoy their time together -- from homework space discovery to movie time.
