Our smartphones are full of germs, apparently, because we touch them so much. So Korean online auction and shopping site Gmarket (which is owned by eBay) invented a way to keep them clean -- a "toaster" that sterilizes them.

The campaign, by Innored in Seoul, is more than a simple gimmick; it involves a real product, created by British product design company Kinneir Dufort. The "Green Toaster" uses a UV lamp to clean the phone, the user having first activated the process with a Gmarket app. To make this film, Innored set up the toaster in a coffee bar so that people could sterilize the phone as they waited for their skinny lattes. It's all part of a wider campaign by Gmarket to create a better mobile shopping environment.

Who knew we needed a smartphone sterilizer in our lives? But according to a statement from Innored, "People touch their smartphone average 150 times a day and 7,000 kinds of germs are found on it, which is 10 times more than that of a toilet."

Now that's a thought.
