Off the Grid

Editor's Pick

Created by Wieden + Kennedy London to support the launch of the 2012 Honda Civic, Off The Grid is a 360 degree video experience inspired by Google's Streetview.

W+K worked with Partizan and director Michael Geoghegan to create the film, which invites viewers to 'explore the unknown' as they follow Streetview-style arrows to unusual destinations, panning around them to have a more in-depth look. Locations include the boneyard of the Neon Museum of Las Vegas, which is only open by special appointment; an Alaskan glacier; Marble Canyon, Arizona and an underwater museum in Cancun. Some of the filming was done by attaching cameras to helicopter, giving access to views that people would not be able to experience in any other way.

Off The Grid is one of a series of interactive projects by W+K London to promote the Civic, including HTML 5 browser game The Experiment. All support a wider pan-European marketing campaign entitled The Great Unknown, with TV spots set to launch next month.
