A lot of folks are coming out to encourage citizens to sign up to vote for National Voter Registration Day today--among them are celebrities like Kumail Nanjiani, Ed Harris, Jeffrey Wright, Lena Dunham, George RR Martin and Sarah Jessica Parker--but they’re not really doing much.
The lineup of stars, who appear or are involved in HBO shows like “Westworld,” “Girls,” “Silicon Valley” and “Game of Thrones,” stare into the camera one by one--some with concerned looks, others with glares reminiscent of your mom and dad when you’ve done something naughty and a handful giving an encouraging nod. Copy then reads, “Right now, there’s only one voice that needs to be heard. Yours.” The spot then encourages viewers to text “HBO 18” to the number 788.63 to register.
HBO shared the anthem video on social media today, and the celebrities featured within will also be sharing their personal videos (in which they're also saying nothing) on their own platforms.
