A Cute Little Aviator Takes Her Even Cuter Suitcase to Heathrow in Ad for the London Airport

Spot Is Set to David Bowie's 1976 Song 'When I Live My Dream'

Heathrow Airport seems to be taking a leaf out of John Lewis's playbook with this sugar-sweet spot featuring a five-year-old girl setting out for the London hub on her "First Flight," created for its 70th anniversary.

Just like some of the retailer's iconic holiday ads, there's the nostalgic Brit soundtrack (David Bowie's "When I Live My Dream"), the adorable child (wearing an aviator hat), and the beloved inanimate pet -- this time it's a suitcase in the shape of an owl (which, according to the press release, can actually be bought from John Lewis at the airport).

Directed by Dom & Nic at Outsider, the spot, by Havas London, launches on U.K. TV tonight (July 21) and seems to be trying to bring some much-needed magic to the experience of flying (which as we all know, is these days not fun at all, particularly with little kids, cute or not). Nonetheless, it's a nicely made spot.

Ironically, the U.K.'s "Times" pointed out in a Diary column that Bowie actually hated flying and preferred to take cruise liners and trains. To quote the newspaper: "'If it flies, it's death,' he once said. Not a slogan we'll be seeing at Heathrow."
