A new software tool from Ph.D students at the University of Dartmouth, featured in the National Academy of Sciences journal, can figure out which pictures have been photoshopped, and how much, as seen in some of the research results here.

The researchers told Mashable that the tool could be used on magazine ads and other advertisements with a warning, akin to cigarette packs, that would detail how much retouching was done to the ad.
