ASEM : Imagining Mozambique

Imagining Mozambique brings together artists like Parra, Marcos Chin, Florence Manlik and Superdeux, in an effort to raise money for ASEM, a non-profit organization that helps the children and orphans of Mozambique, who continue to experience strife after their country's 25 years of war, natural disaster, colonization and economic instability. On the show website, visitors scroll through an elegant, atmospheric exposition of the plight of Mozambican youth and can preview the work of artists featured in the show. They're also invited to attach their good wishes to glowing fireflies, to be used in an art piece dedicated to the children.

Founded by W+K interactive producer Jamie Kim, the exhibit debuts at the Maxalot Gallery in Amsterdam tonight, August 27, and will run through September 10. The show will subsequently travel to New York, Portland and Tokyo and London.
