As Valentine's Day approaches, Interflora Denmark has released a poignant spot that's both a love story set in the past, and very appropriate for 2017.

Directed by Martin Werner of Bacon, the action takes place in 1925, where, amid beautifully styled Jazz Age costumes and sets, an earnest, bespectacled young man keeps sending looks of longing and unrequited love in the direction of a young woman across the room. However, he seems to be thwarted constantly by another man, a rather more confident young suitor who always seems to get in the way. There are hints, however, that she might be aware of him too -- but the twist is almost bound to take you by surprise.

Brandhouse is behind the film, which is running on TV in Denmark and on social media. "We want to show that Interflora is on the side of love, even when it's complicated and met with obstacles," said Mikkel Elung, the agency's creative director, in a statement.
