We last saw him in a Christmastime love story for Vodafone, but in the brand's new TV spot, Martin Freeman's hapless character seems to have been transported into outer space, or at least into a "Gravity"-style movie.

The latest ad sees Freeman apparently in a NASA-type control room, trying to help an astronaut who's stranded in outer space without oxygen. "Keep it together, I'm all you've got out here," he tells the panicking astronaut. Freeman manages to engage the airlock and seems to have saved the day--but then, disaster strikes. It's revealed that he's playing an interactive space game with a friend, and his unreliable broadband has failed. His friend tells him to try Vodafone broadband instead. (Meanwhile, we want to know where his girlfriend from the Christmas ads went--is he too busy playing video games to see her again?)

Jeff Low of Biscuit once again directs, for Ogilvy London. Framestore, the VFX house that actually worked on "Gravity" is, perhaps not unsuprisingly, responsible for the effects, creating the spaceship and astronaut in CG.
