These Trendy California Pop-Up Restaurants Are For Accountants Only

Menu at Intuit's Parties Features 'Cloud Cocktails' and Molecular Gastronomy

QuickBooks, Intuit's accounting software for small businesses, just opened pop-up restaurants in San Francisco and Los Angeles for an accountants-only crowd. The events, created with help from agency RPA, featured molecular gastronomy inspired by the software's timesaving features.

What does that mean exactly? Guests were served a "Cloud Cocktail," which the company described as a "gin-and-tonic-infused vapor designed to exemplify the convenience of working with clients in the cloud." An entrée and sides were served beneath a smoking cloche, "showing how accountants have access to everything at once with the client dashboard." (A bit of a stretch perhaps, but the presentation looked nice.)

The events, with attendance of about 500, were designed to thank accountants who use the software. Some QuickBooks subscribers received hand-delivered invitations and chocolates on a dish marked "Clear Your Plate," a theme of the event. Intuit tapped the work of small businesses that use the software, including event locations Terra Gallery in San Francisco and The Fig House in Los Angeles.

The company has showed its appreciation for accountants before. In Rhode Island, during this year's tax season, it partnered up with RPA and a local microbrewery to create and bottle a custom beer, CPA IPA, and serve it at happy hours across the state.
