David Bowie Gets High In Venice For Louis Vuitton
Romain Gavras Directs Second Episode Of "L'Invitation Au Voyage"
Editor's Pick
David Bowie travels back to eighteenth century Venice and (somewhat incongruously) sings about getting high in this elegant new film for Louis Vuitton, the second in its "L'Invitation Au Voyage" series. In the new TV spot, directed by Romain Gavras, our heroine Arizona Muse, arrives in Venice in a hot air balloon (which she set off in at the end of the previous film set in the Louvre). She encounters Bowie playing the harpsichord and singing in an ornate ballroom full of eighteenth-century dandies. The campaign has its own microsite where viewers can explore the ballroom. At the end of the spot, Muse finds herself alone in the desolate ballroom, before sailing off in a red-sailed Chinese junk. The director's cut is shown here.
The spot features the "Venetian Mix" of a song from Bowie's latest album, "The Next Day," -- "I'd Rather Be High."
