Volkswagen Sends Sales Guy Undercover to Convince People to Drive its Cars

Deutsch Los Angeles Introduces You to Johnny Conquest

Deutsch Los Angeles presents a new set of Volkswagen ads that introduce a new character -- Johnny Conquest, a sales guy who goes "undercover" in an office and an organic grocery store just to convince people they should try driving a VW car.

The ads, which are different from older VW commercials in that they emphasize a wide range of features versus focusing on just one, which most ads have tended to do, were directed by comedic genius David Shane, out of O Positive Films.

Unfortunately for Mr. Conquest, he isn't that good at being undercover -- he is in fact so enthusiastic about German Engineering that he sports a Volkswagen logo, and barely manages to tell his lies in a believeable way. It's a fun, and fresher approach to the tired "salesman" ads, which VW itself is guilty of running for its "Sign then Drive" sales events, since it gives that salesman a bit of character.
