A soccer player's dive takes an unexpected turn in KFC's World Cup spot from Africa
Ogilvy Cape Town has fun with players' antics
Editor's Pick
Soccer players' antics are proving rich fodder for World Cup ads this year: Geico just released one about a striker doing a super-spectacular slide after scoring a goal, and now here's one from KFC Africa about a dive that takes an unexpected turn.
The ad sees a player doing the familiar dive and roll practiced by many wanting to get a free kick. Not only does he flip and roll all over the pitch, he actually rolls right out of the stadium. He crosses townships, bridges and zebra crossings, all the way to a KFC.
The message is not to "make a meal" out of getting a free kick, but to make a meal out of the KFC Streetwise 2 deal.
Karien Cherry from Giant Films directed the good-natured spot, created by Ogilvy Cape Town.
