As of today, Amazon's Kindle Worlds store is officially open for business--to both writers and readers of fan fiction. Fan fiction aficionados can now purchase books featuring their favorite popular culture figures in brand new and reimagined situations. Authors can use the "self-service submission platform" and earn up to 35% in royalties on their books that will be priced between $0.99 and $3.99. At the moment, there are over 50 commissioned stories including multiple works based in and inspired by the worlds of ABC Family's Pretty Little Liars, the CW's The Vampire Diaries and its recently finished show Gossip Girl. As with any other Amazon product, customers will be able to rate and review them. Writers will have to abide by content guidelines that prohibit infringement, excessive brand use, crossovers into other worlds, pornography and other types of graphic material. Those hoping to publish the next "50 Shades of Grey" may be a little dismayed by the latter.
