The Newport Beach Film Festival brings a wacky, fresh take with its marketing once again. This time, RPA tapped the Freise Brothers to directed a black and white scenario called "Skeet Art," in which a punk woman and her manservant walk onto a field. The woman bellows, "Pull!" and a projectile flies into the sky. As the punk hunter hits the targets, multicolored powder explodes, filling the grey world with brilliant bursts of color. A message appears in a pastel cloud: "Know New Art." The spot ends with the punk woman gazing lingeringly with the shotgun resting on her shoulder.
"We found ourselves at a shooting range in the desert for a friend's wedding and began to talk about our strange small-town childhood experience with guns, art and punk rock music," the Freise brothers explained in a statement. The combined elements ultimatelymanifested as what they call an "homage to the talented artists among us who have yet to be discovered."
This latest ad is significantly lighter than those from past years, including one where a father tells his child a disturbing bedtime story and another featuring a deranged dentist.
