I'm OK : Knowing Without the Nagging
Checking in with Mom and Dad
Editor's Pick
I'm OK is an iPhone app (currently in beta) that allows parents to check up on their kids' whereabouts. While there's nothing particularly new about using cellphones to stay in touch, with this app, the kids get rewards every time they 'check in' with Mom and Dad.
By sharing their location, taking pictures, tagging friends, and telling parents what they are doing, kids earn 'points'. These can be exchanged for things parents have agreed to, like money or special privileges. The more they share, the more points they get.
The mobile startup was founded by Matthew Bromberg, former chief executive of tournament gaming firm Major League Gaming. He and two other investors, Machinima CEO Allen Debevoise and Chamath Palihapitiya, VP for Mobile and International at Facebook, have raised $250,000.
