The Easter Bunny subs for Santa in Lacta's holiday ad
Brazilian ad by David for the Mondelez brand has a responsible message, but might confuse some kids

The Easter Bunny takes over Christmas deliveries in 2020 from Santa in an ad for Mondelez chocolate brand Lacta from Brazil. The point? To keep the aged St. Nick safe from Covid-19.
The spot, created via David São Paulo, starts with a news report about social distancing and the elderly still being considered a high-risk group. As Santa shelters inside, the Bunny commandeers his sleigh and delivers everything—including Lacta candy bars—at breakneck speed, as rabbits have a tendency to do. Ultimately, we see a delighted child and under the Christmas tree, a half-chewed carrot that looks suspiciously like it's been gnawed not by a reindeer but by something with oversized teeth. The ad ends with the hashtag #SantaStayHome.
“It seemed wrong to ask Santa to go outside this year to deliver all the presents," said Rafael Donato, VP-creative director at David, in a statement. "That’s why we asked Easter Bunny to help us out on this very important task. We are lucky to have him available. Although this is a fairytale, there is a very important message. Lacta is starting a movement that brings awareness about how magical Christmas is, even if we need to celebrate in a different way. The brand shows off how important is to everyone to do their part to make this magic still happening."
As cute and responsible as the idea is, we wonder if some kids might end up confused by the message. Brazilian parents, over to you to explain.
