Hotels.com Pays Homage to 'La La Land' in Latest U.K. 'Captain Obvious' Spot
Ad Features a Musical Number, Yellow Frocks and More
Editor's Pick
"La La Land" may not have won the Oscar (in the end), but it has at least made its mark on popular culture this year so much that even an ad pays homage to the movie.
Hotels.com's latest spot featuring "Captain Obvious" in the U.K. references the film throughout, from the Captain leading hotel guests dressed in pastel colors in a musical style-number to "Good Morning" from "Singing in the Rain," (which, in turn, inspired "La La Land"), to a couple dancing in the background a la Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling's famous dance sequence. We can't remember if the poo emoji was in the film, though.
The spot, by Crispin Porter & Bogusky, promotes Hotels.com's rewards scheme, and will be followed by further spots later in the year. It was directed by Mark Denton at Thomas Thomas.
