Network Cast True-Life Fans in Place of Actors

Rather than hire actors to star in its latest film, which promotes its new season of live football, Fox Sports Netherlands cast real-life fans and filmed their reactions as they watched a series of games. The resulting 60 second ad, by Anomaly Amsterdam, captures the emotional roller-coasters experienced by real fans watching live sports (helped by an operatic soundtrack, and some cinematic-style direction by Victor D Ponten.) Dutch viewers might also recognize a few local sporting celebrities among the fans, including John van Zweden, an Ado Den Haag supporter and part-owner of Premier League club Swansea City, and Dries Jans, former PEC Zwolle player..
