Like other tech companies, in the event of disasters, Airbnb activates a response system that turns its platform into a tool for good. Such is the case now with the catastrophic floods that have affected Louisiana -- causing a housing crisis that some compare to the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.
Airbnb offers services for those in need of accommodations and also provides information for hosts who want to offer up their places for free. The company is waiving all service fees for those affected by the floods between August 14 and September 4.
