A Soccer Game Has an Unexpected Twist in This Ad for Canal Digital
Martin Werner Directs Film That Aims to Show Diversity of Content

A new spot from broadcaster Canal Digital for the Nordic region celebrates the diversity of its content by putting an unexpected twist into what seems to be an ad about watching sports.
To the romantic strains of Samuel Barber's "Adagio for Strings," better known as the theme from "Platoon," we see a fan at a soccer game seemingly carried away by passion at his team's victory. However, it turns out his passion is actually for one of the players, who suddenly bursts through the crowd and passionately kisses him. "We have gathered all kinds of love in our streaming service," says the end voiceover.
Bacon's Martin Werner directed the ad for agency Try, Oslo. Its aim is to highlight Canal Digital's love of entertainment, as well as showing the diversity and range of content it offers.
"We knew we faced a challenge in finding a fresh and surprising twist to the pretty well-known premise of different genres coming together. Safe to say, we think we found a way," says Caroline Riis, creative at Try, in a statement.
