Nicki Minaj and John Turturro Star in H&M's Sparkly Holiday Film
Johan Renck Helms a Fantastical Bedtime Story via Forsman & Bodenfors for the Swedish Fast-Fashion Giant
Editor's Pick
Nicki Minaj is a sparkling fairy and John Turturro is the evil present-stealing brother of Father Christmas in H&M's new holiday short film. The three-and-a-half-minute-long spot, which was announced earlier this month but hit social media Tuesday, tells a fantastical bedtime story for a heroic little girl who uses a chemistry-set-initiated black hole to travel to an alternate reality where public transportation is excellent and Santa's brother is bad news.
In this new universe, she uses the internet and her generosity to save Christmas. Minaj also stars as the young girl's mother; Jesse Williams plays her father and the narrator of the heartwarming tale. The spot, which was created with agency Forsman & Bodenfors and directed by Johan Renck, will run on H&M's website, YouTube channel and social media platforms. It will also air in select movie theaters and on TV, according to an H&M spokeswoman.
The film follows last year's long-form spot, in which Adrien Brody returned to his "Darjeeling Limited" roots as a train conductor who saves Christmas.
Minaj is also collaborating with the Swedish fast-fashion giant on a capsule clothing collection.
