Kevin Bacon teams with McCann to make sure people keep their butts at home

#IStayHomeFor effort encourages all to stay put while shining a light on those they want to keep safe

McCann is the latest agency to do its part in promoting safety in the midst of the COVID-19 crisis. This week, it teamed with actor Kevin Bacon to kick off the #IStayHomeFor campaign. The effort encourages people to remain at home and create social posts of themselves with a sign showing the name of someone they are trying to keep safe. 

Bacon kicked it off yesterday with his own post in which he explains how “technically I’m only six degrees away from you” and how it’s our contact with others that could eventually lead to the infection of someone close to us. He urges viewers to stay put, asserting that “every one if us has someone worth staying home for.”

Bacon says he’s doing it to protect his wife, Kyra Sedgwick, whose name is written on a chalkboard with the campaign hashtag. He encourages others to also share on social media the names of the loved ones they want to protect and tag six friends to do so as well. 

In his post Bacon tagged other celebrities, including Jimmy Fallon, Elton John, Brandi Carlile, Kevin Hart, David Beckham and Demi Lovato, some of whom have already responded.   

 

 

 
 

McCann Worldgroup North America President Devika Bulchandani rallied the whole team to spread the idea in an agency memo. “We are all impacted by the global crisis,” she wrote. “But yet we share that common capacity to get going when the times get tough. And to do our part to make a difference.”
